Bill Clinton – Why Lieberman Lost

“Well, if I were Joe and I was running as an independent, that’s what I’d say, too,” Clinton said.  “But that’s not quite right. That is, there were almost no Democrats who agreed with his position, which was, ‘I want to attack Iraq whether or not they have weapons of mass destruction.’” (ABC News)

Stop trying to hang on to my political coattails like a leach Joe.  I won’t be dragged down just because you’re too stupid.  Last time I do a charity apperance for an old friend…

If Lieberman hadn’t made the decision to run as an independent if he lost the Democratic nomination, he would have beat Ned Lamont.

Joe Lieberman – 2-Part Race

“As I see it in this campaign, we just finished the finished the first half and the Lamont team is ahead…but in the second half, our team — Team Connecticut — is going to surge forward to victory in November.” (New York Times)
TRANSLATION:

I need to set the CW/dynamic early that I have a right to challenge Lamont in the general election. Only losing by 4 helps me justify that, although it doesn’t help that there was such high turnout.

Joe Lieberman – Don’t Send a Message…

“The voters of Connecticut are realizing they want to send a senator, not just a message,” Mr. Lieberman said during a morning stop at a New Haven construction site. “If all the real Democrats come out and vote in tomorrow’s elections, you are going to make me Connecticut’s comeback kid.” (New York Times)

TRANSLATION:

Well, I’ve resorted to recycled John Kerry lines, I’m obviously desperate here.

Joe Lieberman – Lamont’s Distortions

“My opponent has done his best to distort my record, spending more than $4 million of his own money to mislead people — or try to — into thinking that I am someone I am not,” Mr. Lieberman said. “This is not unlike what the Republicans did to Max Cleland four years ago.” (New York Times)

TRANSLATION:

I’m betting that Democrats hate Republican tactics just as much as they hate the actual positions.

Joe Lieberman – Going Through Hell

It’s funny, because technically I don’t believe in hell. Whatever you gotta do to get the goyim vote though…

If you vote against me, you hate me.  And liberals should feel guilty about hating anybody.

Lamont/Lieberman Campaigns – More Primary Voters

TRANSLATION:

As far as the media goes, any news is good news. We can’t show any weakness, or else we’ll have the taint of a loser.

Joe Lieberman – His Vulnerability

“Look, I could have told you this would be very close at the end. I know now it is very close.” (New York Times)

TRANSLATION:

People already think I’m a loser. I don’t want them to think I was an idiot as well.

Lieberman Advisor – Anti-Semitic Progressives

“There’s a small but vocal pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel and perhaps anti-Semitic faction of the Democratic Party,’’ said Dan Gerstein, a former Lieberman aide and informal adviser to the campaign. “It is a small minority but it is getting bolder, and even worse. There is a growing tolerance of it in the progressive community.” (New York Times)
TRANSLATION:

If we can at all make being anti-war seem anti-semitic, we can get all the Jews on our side.  And if we can REALLY link the two, we’ll get all the other liberals since almost all of them support Israel anyway. Thank G-d for those 5% of truly crazy liberals.
